MBF and Destilerías MG
The Spanish group Destilerías MG, one of the world's largest producers of rum and spirits including Gin Mare, Ron Barceló, Gin Le Tribute and Tonica Le Tribute, has bought its third MBF.
Destilerías MG is a family-owned company that has been distilling the values of tradition, quality and innovation for more than five generations; famous mainly for the production of Gin Mare, a typical Mediterranean flavour.
Marc Girò, the Operations Director of Destilerías MG, speaks of the strong partnership between MBF and Destilerías MG, and in particular the direct and personalised relationship between the two companies. MBF designs and manufactures machinery according to their customer's specific requirements, a very important factor for the sector-given the huge variety and complexity of products to be processed, range of bottle formats and different types of closures.
Destilerías MG chose the first MBF in 2015 when an old production line was replaced. The aim was to optimise changeover times, using a more flexible and reliable technology than theirprevious traditional machines, while aiming to improve safety standards.
2019 saw the installation of the second MBF for Destilerías MG, an electronic isobaric filler for their new carbonated products. The solution successfully achieved the customer's needs and expectations, particularly in terms of plant efficiency and reliability.
With the aim of further modernising the company, the third line was built this year, 2023. Following their recent agreement with Brown Forman, one of the largest American companies in the spirits and wine sector, Destilerías MG required a further significant improvement in bottling to reach the highest quality standards demanded by large international groups. The proposed solution from MBF met all the project requirements. The Gin Mare bottle, due to its particular shape, presented problems of instability during the bottling phase and required specific bespoke solutions for its handling, as well as during the capping phase due to a special closure. MBF, working on the specific requirements of Destilerías MG, was able to propose a solution that met all the demands and achieved an optimal, quality result.
